I see beyond the barriers,

of the world that I create.

I realise the barriers are illusion,

and a restriction to my fate.

It is with confidence I move forward,

and my new journey begins.

I am now on the adventure of life,

and my heart is glad and heartily sings!

This is Morton Reservoir, East Calder, Livingston, from my first morning walk  of 2024 with my son Colin (the author). We sat and admired this view for a while and soaked in the serenity.

I stay at home,

communicating through the phone.

Outside is unbearable,

my peace of mind unsustainable.

Yet when I banish the shadows of fear in my mind

then joy and freedom I will assuredly find.

Adversity

 

My spirit feels battered and bruised,

and sometimes angry, used and abused.

Adversity has made itself known,

and seeds of uncertainty are now sown.

But I know and accept what needs to be done,

and I will do so now; I will not run!
