My whole system seems to go haywire,

as my energies crash and I feel irritable and forlorn.

and there’s no illness to detect.

so that I do not drive myself insane.

Autism

 

I often find people hard to understand,

and consequently, my self-esteem turns to sand.

Then my emotional being starts to vibrate,

as I enter an unwanted anxiety state.

My words then take on a life of their own,

and become seeds of discord I have unwittingly sown.

Bravery

 

Bravery is

not a lack of fear but the acceptance of it and the overcoming of it.

looking adversity in the face and still being able to smile.

setting aside ego for the greater good.

climbing out of bed to face the day, come what may.

shining the light of truth on our inner demons.

accepting when we are at fault and, where appropriate, owning up to it.

stepping up to help those who cannot do so for themselves.

recognising that no matter our external circumstances, our spirit cannot be broken.

getting on with life despite the pain.

looking at death as the doorway to the next part of our journey.
