Hypersensitivity

 

Like nails dragged across a blackboard,

sounds, smells, and other energies explode.

A solution I need to find.

for my overwhelmed rational mind,

Within me, I need an effective buffer,

then no more sensitive nerves to suffer.

My lips are dry, and my throat is tight,

and my whole being feels filled with fright.

Where does it come from this terrible panic?

It makes me feel as if I am on the Titanic!

Yet if I slow my breathing, it sooths my hammering heart,

I know now I can feel peace, and it is a great start!
