Working Through A Mid-Life Crisis

The Mid-Life Crisis

I cannot believe it has happened so soon,

and I feel as if I could howl at the moon.

I think I am in my mid-life crisis with how I feel,

what I held to be true has lost its authentic seal.

It is confusing and my world now feels upside down,

as my face struggles to hide my concerned frown.

I must know what is real and not a shadow of fear,

wonderful peace of mind will then be my friend and dear.

I have two self-help stories available exclusively on

Amazon, either on the Kindle or paperback, and I do

hope that you find them interesting, thought-

provoking, and, most of all, enjoyable: -

The Rock Philosophy

This simply written short story is aimed at those who

seek to understand themselves, and through

 understanding themselves comes a greater

 understanding of life.

The Life of Jesus

(as witnessed by his brother)

Much has been written about Jesus, and no matter your

view on religion or Christianity, this person, whether he

was as described in the bible or not, has singularly

shaped, to a greater or lesser extent, the lives we lead

today through his wisdom. There are many versions of

the story, but there is only one truth, and is it not

 better to know the truth?

You are most welcome to visit my self-help youtube

And you will find an excellent read in this story by my

son Colin, and it is here.

Major Depressive Disorder

Major Depressive Disorder

With my soul in anguish chiding,

all hope seems to be in hiding.

I know I really need to finish this fight,

to overcome the dark and see the light.

Yet when I find that stillness within,

I know anything is possible and I will win.

In this stillness, I relish the great peace,

and then the discordant energies simply cease.

Integrating My Shadow-Self

Integrating My Shadow-Self

I didn’t know there was more of me,

hidden so no others could see.

It’s been imprisoned deep within my mind,

but my shadow-self I’ll no longer bind!

I didn’t realise that I was incomplete, broken,

and a part of me treated as a valueless token.

I will use my shadow-self in a positive way,

and it will know now it is here to stay.

Overcoming Hypermania and Mania

Overcoming Hypermania and Mania

I can feel quite euphoric,

and master of any topic.

My money I give away freely,

and it’s no problem, really!

I am fearless with a sense of adventure,

and no one can my actions censure.

I question though, is this really me,

and at what cost is this false FREE!

I know now it is time to take care and heal,

and regulate with positive love how I feel.

Mushin by John

Mushin (No-Mind)

In a state of Mushin, the mind is still.

It is not a state of quiescence,

but a state of BEING which allows ONE’s spirit,

to resonate with the ebb and flow of all energies.

In this way, one is never surprised or caught unawares.

It is a peaceful state of absolute awareness and understanding,

and is the crystal-clear mind which is no-mind.

Healing Deeply Repressed Anxiety

Healing Deeply Repressed Anxiety

In most of us buried deep you will find,

the very alive anxieties of our mind.

They may be no more than shadows,

but without doubt, very real foes.

Like mosquitoes, but drinking our zest,

and stopping us from being our very best.

I have decided today is the day I let them go,

then I’ll joyfully rediscover my inner glow!

Haphephobia (Fear Of Being Touched)

Haphephobia (Fear Of Being Touched)

The thought of anyone’s touch,

just affects me way too much.

So much so, I am filled with dread,

and I wish they would hold back instead.

Even after a desire to change through deep reflection,

I accepted I was missing out in genuine affection.

But now I feel an insistent call to action,

and to change my thought process by a fraction.

Then I can be hugged, held and touched as I smile,

knowing that I don’t need to ‘run a mile’!

Generalised Anxiety Disorder

Sometimes I am bewildered and struggle to be calm,

and I then wish most strongly for a phobias healing balm.

It is time now, though, for me to heal, and help is at hand,

20 Minutes to Change Your Life and Feel Better by John

Feel Better

My life at times seems not so good,

and I really could do with some soul food.

Something that would create positive change,

give me positivity and increase my range.

Then I will move forward with confidence and excel,

with a peaceful, sunny smile and feeling truly well.
