I heard a story today from the mechanic who was going to service my car. He and his girlfriend (she was driving) were in a non moving queue of cars stopped by temporary lights for roadworks, the road was partly coned of. When the lights changed they set off and were passing the now stationary traffic heading the other way. My mechanic looked out of the window passed his girlfriend to see a car driving towards them and it smashed into the side of their car. They both suffered minor injuries and it could have been much worse. It turns out the person driving the other vehicle had been sitting stationary like everyone else on the other side for there was no way to go and then his mind wandered and he pulled out and rammed my mechanic's car as they were driving passed. That is roughly the story as I remember it. The other driver was clearly not mindful or present at the time. And I ask myself how often does my mind wander when I am doing nothing, or even worse when someone is talking? How much do we miss? Do we cause problems for ourselves through missed conversations, or opportunities, or any one of a number of things because we were not paying attention and being in the moment?
I created a subliminal meditation to aid those who wish to improve their mindfullness and to help be present.
It is so easy to slip and dwell in the past, drawing memories out and making them last. Or to dwell in a potential future and dream of change, and then wonder why our lives seem flat and lacking range. Truly the only real change we can make is in the present, here and now, like the farmer planting his seeds as he tills the soil with his plough. No ego, aggression or misplaced confidence to kill the flower; mindfulness is subtle, humble and filled with loving, compassionate power! John

I have two self-help stories available exclusively on Amazon, either on the Kindle or paperback, and I do hope that you find them interesting, thought-provoking, and, most of all, enjoyable: -
This simply written short story is aimed at those who seek to understand themselves, and through understanding themselves comes a greater understanding of life.
(as witnessed by his brother)
Much has been written about Jesus, and no matter your view on religion or Christianity, this person, whether he was as described in the bible or not, has singularly shaped, to a greater or lesser extent, the lives we lead today through his wisdom. There are many versions of the story, but there is only one truth, and is it not better to know the truth?
You are most welcome to visit my self-help youtube channel Advantage Subliminal
And you will find an excellent read in this recently published story by my son Colin, it is here.
