 The Physical Umbilical Chord (Sustenance of the new body and mind)

A baby when it is born is connected to its mother by the umbilical chord.  This chord nourishes Baby in every way, taking from the Mother naturally all that Baby needs. After birth and if left unattended the chord would fall away naturally, at the right time for Baby so that it is not left with the feeling of premature, traumatic separation from its Mother. Most of us, if not all of us, will not consciously remember this separation but that (from Baby's viewpoint) brutal shock still resides in our subconscious mind and most probably still manifests itself in our lives without us being consciously aware of it. We were separated unnaturally from all that was good in our very early life.

 

The Spiritual Umbilical Chord (Sustenance of the spirit and soul)

 

As well as the physical umbilical chord we have our spiritual umbilical chord, that which connects us to the divine and it can either grow as we grow or shrivel up and die, depending on what we choose to believe.

 

Recent "civilisation" (for want of a better word) for many years has endeavoured to sever that chord leaving a spiritual separation (similar to Baby with the physical separation) which can leave us feeling lost, rudderless and in the dark for we have lost that sense of connection, that sense of being part of a greater family, perhaps unseen but ever present. 

 

In this state of separateness, it is harder to feel that sense of connection with others.  We feel isolated and in this forced "darkness" we here a voice calling out "This way!" This voice then leads us in the direction it wants us to go, we are easily controlled because we are frightened of the "dark"!  We don't understand the dark and our most inner being desires so much to feel that connection, to re-establish that spiritual unmilical chord, however the voice tells us it has something better as it lures us into a false sense of security. We may feel a sense of "connection" but it is not a true connection because it is man-made with one function only, to control us, not to set us free. We still feel a loss in the deepest recesses of our soul and in seeking to find that natural peace we may be lead and encouraged to try avenues of false hopes which may lead to addiction of some sort or other.  This peace can only be found through natural means and starts with loving ourselves, warts and all, as we reach out on our journey of SELF-Growth and SELF-Improvement.

We must open our hearts and minds to be free and to see and feel how we are all connected, not just to each other, but to this earth we live on, and to the great creation which is everything.
