Inner Peace and the T Square
In the turmoil of my life,
I feel I need a surgeon’s knife,
to cut away all that upsets me,
'cause it’s only problems I see.
Yet if I slow down my mind,
perhaps inner peace I will find.
Recognizing that my shadowy fears,
are not worthy of my heartfelt tears.
Grounding my mind, body and soul
leaves me the opportunity of direct control!
John
Happiness is transitory, and in recognizing
this fact, it is, therefore, okay not to be happy all the time. However, not
being happy, is not necessarily the same as being unhappy, feeling miserable,
or depressed. These, too, are transitory
states, although it is hard to remember this fact when one feels unhappy,
miserable, or depressed! The best
feeling of all is peace, inner peace. In
inner peace, one recognizes the transitory state of all things, of all
feelings. With inner peace, one may still feel happy or sad; however, they
remain only for a brief period as one always returns to inner peace, which is,
in its own way, a type of happiness.
Inner peace is like the game of squash, where the person who controls
the T square (inner peace), controls the game (Life)! Your opponent has to react
and run all over the court, returning your shot and trying to gain control of the
T Square. If they should succeed, then you then have to react to their play;
this is life for the majority of people.
The person, who controls the T Square,
controls the court, the shots, and how hard the other player has to work. All the other less experienced player can do,
is try to keep up. When you are not in control of
the T Square, all you can ever do is
react. In life, we never (or
almost never) make the best decisions when we are not in our T Square, feeling
that life has spiraled out of control.
In finding inner peace, one tends to make better decisions and upset fewer
people in the process. It is not a guarantee that life will always be smooth;
remembering what has been said before, however, it can become immensely more
enjoyable.
Being on the T Square of life is
not a physical act; it is a mental act, requiring only the determined knowing
that you are on your T Square, you are in control, and all life’s vagaries can
try and do is knock you off it. Remember, it is your T Square; you are charged
with the care of it, whether you like it or not, you own the responsibility,
and it is always easier to maintain a position rather than trying to regain
control of it!
I wish you great success on your journey to Inner Peace.
